Vehicle assistance

What if you are driving abroad in your private vehicle and you break down or even have an accident? With vehicle assistance, Platinum cardholders can receive breakdown assistance on the spot and a contribution towards various costs for vehicle recovery, overnight accommodation or return travel.

The insurance covers the cardholder (primary, second, additional and partner cards), their spouse or partner living in the same household and children under the age of 25 who are entitled to support, provided they live in the same household or are resident in Switzerland.

The insurance covers private motor vehicles (passenger cars or motorhomes) with a total weight of up to 3 500 kg and motorcycles.

The following prerequisites must be met for the insurance to provide cover:

• The insured person is the driver of the private motor vehicle used.

The insurance is included in the annual fee for your Viseca card and does not cause any additional costs.

The country of residence is not included in the cover; outside the country of residence of the insured person, geographical coverage extends to the following countries and territories: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus (Greek part), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Principality of Liechtenstein, Romania, Russia (to the Urals), San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey (European part), Ukraine.

The insurance cover extends to transport by sea if the points of departure and destination are in the covered geographical area.

The insurance covers the following in connection with a vehicle driven by the insured person: collision, breakdown, natural hazards, fire, vandalism, unavailability of the driver and theft.

Any means of transport running regularly on the basis of a timetable and subject to a fee. Taxis, rental cars and cruise ships are not regarded as public transport or means of transport.

Exclusions from the insurance cover include the following:

• Measures and costs that have not been requested or approved by the insurer.
• The vehicle is in a condition that does not meet road traffic regulations at the time of the incident, or maintenance work recommended by the manufacturer was not carried out.
• Breakdowns and accidents that occur on non-public or non-official roads, in particular during off-road trips.
• Commercially used vehicles or rental cars.
• Damage to the vehicle and any cargo, as well as any consequential costs.
• The return of animals.
• The cost of repairs and spare parts.
• The insurer is not liable for damage caused by a service provider it has commissioned.

If an insured event occurs, the insurer (phone +41 44 283 34 18) must be contacted without delay and its consent obtained for any measures to be taken and any assumption of costs for such measures. The emergency call centre is available around the clock.

Send the claim form and the following documents to the insurer as soon as possible:

• Receipts for additional costs
• Police report, medical certificate – if applicable
• Booking confirmation for the trip
